Our Isle of Man office opened its doors in December 2012. Now, nearly 8 years on, we have over 200 Derivkins in our newly refurbished “campus”.
Today, we’ve taken a quick time out with recruiter, James Martin, to find out exactly what it takes to join the team at Derivco Isle of Man.
Hello James! Give us a quick introduction about yourself…
Hi, I’m James and I am a member of our amazing HR team at Derivco IOM. My job is to attract the best industry talent to join our organisation. I’ve worked in recruitment & HR near on 7 years, with experience in recruiting across multiple industries. I joined Derivco in September 2019 and I have loved every minute of my journey with the company so far!
What roles do you typically recruit for on the Island?
We’re always keen to hear from anyone who truly has a passion for technology and who is keen to work with the latest cutting-edge applications and tools. We have a diverse portfolio of roles, which are made up of both technical and non-technical positions.
Our technical roles include IT Engineers in all our product areas, which include the likes of our Sportsbook and Casino teams. Our Engineers are vital in providing technical support for software applications, maintaining our products and services, and ensuring they are always available.
As well as our engineers, we also have a large Infrastructure and Security Department, which contains many intricate sub-teams, including a host of fabulous developers, QA Software Testers and Integrations Specialists to name a few of our other technical roles.
Operating alongside our technical gurus are our fantastic support and coordination teammates who are responsible for the day-to-day running of our product areas. Their responsibilities include resource planning, scheduling, organisation, project coordination/management and ensuring our teams are reaching delivery targets and deadlines.
What does an ideal ‘Derivkin’ look like?
An ideal addition to our Derivco family is someone who loves to challenge themselves and grow their skillset. We want individuals with strong communication skills, and who work well in a collaborative team environment. There’s also nothing more refreshing than someone who is passionate about their career, with a desire to learn about new technologies and develop themselves personally. More than that however, we look for people who exemplify our values and principles, which include honesty, courage, empowerment, responsibility, innovation, commitment, transparency, integrity, failing forward and technology.
What surprised you the most about Derivco when you joined?
The culture of the organisation and the potential you have to grow as an individual. The possibilities are endless, it is very refreshing and great to be a part of.
As an organisation we achieve things together as ‘One Derivco’ and this is reflected in our collaborative environment where everyone works together. We fail forward as a team and celebrate our successes together as a team!
What do you enjoy most about working at Derivco?
Where to start…No two days are the same! Working with like-minded individuals in a friendly and fun environment is what makes Derivco so great. Don’t get me wrong, we all work very hard at times, but we get the job done while having fun, it’s that simple.
And finally, if the ideal candidate is reading this interview, why should they take the leap and join us?
I think they need to ask themselves why not, really! At Derivco, we eat, sleep and breathe technology, and we invest heavily in our people, our technologies and our software. We also have an incredible internal culture that helps you grow and develop continuously.
