About the position and the Engineering Support team

Our Engineering Support team is looking for a communicative Tech Lead who thrives getting his hands dirty supporting our developer teams by means of setting up CI/CD environments and pipelines, as well as looking after the infrastructure sitting at the back bone of our product (i.e. RabbitMQ, HAProxy,PostgreSQL). The mission of this team is to optimize the time to market for our products by equipping all the teams with the right tools for the job.The team is at the heart of things, meaning they’re in constant contact with all the product teams to better understand their needs when it comes to removing inefficiencies in their development and operational workflows.

Being a part of this team, you will not only get the chance to master your skills within DevOps, Docker, Kubernetes and CI/CD, but also to drive projects together with your team. Your work will have an important impact on our other offices around the world as well, such as in South Africa and in the U.K., having this in mind you’re able to see the bigger picture at the same time as understanding the importance of the smaller tasks. You will work closely together with our operations team in Isle of Man, as well as with our infrastructure team in Ipswich and Durban.

Turning thought into action will get another meaning in this role where you will be the go-to-person and push the team’s agenda into other crowds. To enjoy this role, you should therefor consider yourself as an attentive representative, whilst assuring that the core functions are maintained together with you team. Also, we think that you’re someone who advocate for automatization, continuous delivery and integration, which can be noted in your work.

Technical focus areas

  • Introduction of ephemeral test environments (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift)
  • Standardized configuration management across products (e.g. Ansible)
  • Standardized code instrumentation across products (e.g. Graphite, Grafana, Splunk, Elastic, InfluxDB, Prometheus)
  • Automated (one-click) deployments to all the environments including production (e.g. Ansible, Jenkins)
  • Automated provisioning of infrastructure (e.g. Jenkins, Terraform)
  • Automated alerting of system faults
  • Capacity planning
